In early August, 2008, we were brought to the Bigelow Gulch area of Spokane to cater a rehearsal

Dinner for a great couple who had attended a surprise party we had catered a few months earlier.

This event, held at a residence near Arbor Crest Winery, was a great mid-summer evening!

With all the great caters that we’ve been able to do over the past 6 years of existence, every once in a while we, at Bella Sera Catering, get an opportunity to give something back to our

community, and in mid-July of 2008 we were given the chance to donate our time and talents to a fundraiser to benefit Interfaith Hospitality here in Spokane.

 

A grilling demo, dubbed “Hot Off the Grill” was held at an amazing home on the North Side of Spokane.  The participants were offered some tips and techniques to grilling, along with recipes and a nice taste of the three dishes served.  Fun was had by all, but most importantly a good amount of money was raised for a wonderful local charity

On the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, 2008, Bella Sera Catering was honored to provide the catering for a joint Wedding Reception and Housewarming (we got to Christen the Kitchen ourselves!) at a brand new house just South West of Spokane.  The event was joyous and wonderful…as was the food!

August 18, 2007: While catering weddings can be a daunting and exhausting task, the opportunity to cater a 50th Wedding Anniversary in the valley for a wonderful couple and their children and friends was both an honor and a privilege.  The evening begin with simple appetizers and continued with a plated entree and individual desserts.

June 18, 2007: A gorgeous house on the South Hill of Spokane in the Rockwood Blvd area was the setting for a mid-June soiree celebrating new business ventures.  Anyone who is anyone was at the event and Bella Sera Catering was honored to provide the food for such and important gathering.

April 23, 2007: Another Spring in Spokane brought another in my series of cooking classes offered through the Institute for Extended Learning at Spokane Falls Community College .  These classes get more and more crowded every season, but are still a lot of fun for the class, and for me!

March 14, 2007: A surprise celebration commemorating 25 years of work at a local dental office was the occasion for this early March party.  This menu was chosen not only for its variety, but also for its use of some wonderful vegetarian options.

August 19, 2006: The 4th installment of The Inland Empire Gardener’s Gourmet in the Garden took place on a gorgeous Saturday in mid-August at the award winning garden of Phyllis and Jim Stephens.  The theme for this year’s dinner was “American Cuisine” and, while a challenge, the night was one for the ages!

August 15, 2006: A couple of lifelong friends decided to throw a joint birthday party for 100 guests on the South Hill in mid-August.  This menu was prepared not only to create a myriad of wonderful flavors, but targeted specifically to the all-female guest list.

June 15, 2006: An amazing afternoon of fun, food, and friends was had on 5-Mile for a promotion of one of our local Air Force leaders.  While the weather was a bit unfortunate (thunderstorms) the party was wonderful nonetheless!

April 17, 2006: The Institute for Extended Learning called again to see if we would teach a class on Italian Springtime Cooking, and we couldn’t say no.  This is the menu that was taught and the recipes are located on this website as well!

The theory behind this menu was not only to show how to use Springtime flavors and vegetables in Italian cooking, but also to show how different textures and odd flavor combinations can be used to make an amazing 6 course meal.

March 31, 2006: A wonderful woman passed away at the end of March, and Bella Sera Catering was given the honor of coming up with a menu that would help celebrate her life and all that she meant to the world.

October 3, 2005: I taught a class through the Institute for Extended Learning and Spokane Community Colleges in early October.  The theme behind the class was “Autumnal Italian Cooking” where I wanted to teach the adults who attended how to create a Six-Course meal from scratch using what the harvest has brought in early fall.

October 2, 2005: Another installment of the “in-laws Golf and Dinner Party” was held in early October on the north side of Spokane.  The theme this year was “stuffed”, not only because of the stuffed entrees, but also referring to the guests at the end of the night!

September 4, 2005: A 40th wedding anniversary party was conceived of by the 7 siblings of a wonderful North Spokane Family.  What began as a small gathering of family soon became a full on reception with 70 adults, and 37 children, all of whom enjoyed the Hawaiian Luau that was prepared from scratch!  Aloha!

This menu was created for Spokane Community College's "Best Chefs of Spokane" series in February of 2004.  The class, entitled "Elegant Dinner", was designed to teach the students how to create the perfect dinner party, from invitations to dessert.  The menu that we chose for the class focused on exciting, delectable dishes which could be prepared without the host and hostess being stuck in the kitchen during the party.

This is a menu that I prepared for family and friends back in May of 2001.  It is a simple Italian menu with a little for everyone.  This worked out very well for the guests at this party, two of which were vegetarians.  I was able to take some of the Carbonara aside without the pancetta so they could eat all but one of the dishes.
